Our Kitchen

One of Argentina’s most cherished traditions is the asado, or barbecue. Guests are invited to enjoy locally sourced beef, grilled over open flames and prepared by our chief gaucho, Roque. We work exclusively with pasture-raised, free-range beef, sourced from the countryside and produced using natural, organic practices.

This approach reflects a deep respect for tradition, simplicity, and the natural rhythm of Gaucho life in the countryside. Guests are invited to experience a selection of different cuts typical to Argentina, including tenderloin, entrecôte, striploin, skirt stake, and others. Each asado is accompanied by locally grown, seasonal vegetables, with menus adapting naturally to what the land provides at different times of year.

Breakfast

Each morning begins with a generous homemade breakfast, featuring freshly baked breads, croissants, tortas fritas (traditional gaucho fried bread), cakes, eggs cooked to your preference, seasonal fruit, fresh-squeezed orange juice, butter, jams, and Argentina’s famous dulce de leche.

Lunch & Dinner

Lunches and dinners are always three-course meals prepared with locally sourced products. Our meals reflect Argentinian culinary identity, a refined fusion of Italian and Spanish influences, combined with the simplicity and depth of the country’s criollo heritage.

Cooking Lessons

Everything at Estancia Don Joaquin is homemade, and the kitchen is always open to curious guests. Those interested are welcome to learn the secrets of regional Argentine cuisine with our regularly offered cooking classes, hosted by owners Angie and Josefina. Empanadas, made in-house with either beef or chicken, then baked using a wood-burning oven, are the star of our cooking classes. To learn more, please visit this page: Cooking Lessons & Wine Tasting.

Argentina’s Wines

Malbec is Argentina’s emblematic wine and an essential part of our table. Grown mainly in the high-altitude regions of Mendoza, this varietal is known for its intense notes of red fruits, balanced body, and smooth finish, making it the perfect pairing for asados and grilled meats. At Estancia Don Joaquín, we select Malbecs from small producers and renowned wineries, offering our guests the opportunity to discover the diversity and richness of Argentine wine in every glass.

We also offer a blind wine tasting for those interested! To learn more, please visit this page: Cooking Lessons & Wine Tasting.
We are able to accommodate any dietary requirements or restrictions, but we kindly ask that you inform us in advance if possible.
