Estancia Don Joaquin is a family-run working ranch in the heart of Argentina’s countryside. Born twenty years ago as a private family home, it has evolved into a place where guests experience the land on horseback — discovering the wildlife, open landscapes, and living the gaucho traditions that define this region.

The estancia remains an authentic working cattle ranch at its core, set among lagoons, wetlands, and rivers in a rich subtropical landscape. It is home to a breeding herd of 150 Criollo horses and Criollo crosses, which roam and graze freely across the grasslands, living in balance with the cattle and native wildlife.

Life at Estancia Don Joaquin is intentionally unstructured and flexible. There is no fixed schedule and each stay is personalized, allowing guests to choose how active or relaxed their stay will be. Combining excellent service and the comfort of a loving family, we will cater to your specific desires. HORSE RIDING

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, everyone can enjoy the experience of horseback riding at our estancia. Our 800 hectares of land and 150 horses offer plenty of variety to explore the land from the saddle.

THE GAUCHO TRAIL

The Gaucho Trail is a seven-day horseback journey across the vast landscapes of Corrientes, exploring more remote regions that differ from the land surrounding the estancia, and offering an opportunity to spot an even wider spread of wildlife.

RURAL GAUCHO ACTIVITIES

Among the estancia’s activities, you will have the opportunity to experience traditional Argentine ranch work alongside the peones correntinos. Learn how to herd cattle, brand calves, and use a lasso, all under the guidance of experienced local gauchos.

We had an amazing time at the ranch and really didn't want to leave. Josephina welcomed us and gave us a fantastic room overlooking the horses and gauchos. Hearing the sound of their hooves galloping past our room was wonderful and we loved it. The food is incredible, with everything you could want at breakfast, lunch, and a three-course dinner. We were completely hooked on the gaucho bread! Traveling through wetlands and lagoons twice a day with the wonderful scenery and wildlife made our vacation so special. Our highlight was when we helped move the cattle to a corral and then to a chute for tick spraying. This ranch is for everyone, from beginners to expert riders. Angie and Diego are the kindest people who sorted out some travel issues we had due to our mistake and made sure we got to the airport. Fantastic memories that will last forever, or until we return.

An absolute necessity not only in Argentina but in the world. Where do I even begin? I couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the first day to the last, I was treated like royalty. The hosts and the gauchos truly made me feel like part of the family. I met some lifelong friends and ate some of the best food I've ever had. Immersed in exceptional natural beauty, the horses were outstanding—well-trained and well-cared for—and the room was luxurious and incredibly comfortable. My only negative point about Escancia is having to leave this absolutely magical place.

We had a fantastic 8-day stay. While the focus was certainly on the superb horseback riding, every aspect of our stay was exceptional. Thank you to the entire family for making us feel so welcome. Argentinian barbecue, fishing, birdwatching, herding cattle and horses, cooking lessons, cocktails, wine tasting—all in a wonderfully luxurious setting and among such kind hosts. The riding was incredible, but what really made the stay special was the people. The gauchos are incredible and Fabi's perfect English made everything so easy. Riding alongside them while asking millions of questions was definitely the highlight of our trip!

Don't hesitate and book this place. The owners are the most amazing, loving family we've ever met, and their 20 staff members are incredibly attentive. The food and drinks are 10/10, with three-course meals. The ranch is absolutely luxurious, beautifully decorated on 2,000 acres of gorgeous land, and you'll see lots of wildlife while driving. They have an unlimited number of trained horses for any skill level and provide helmets. You'll see real gauchos in action with cattle and horses. This was the most incredible experience of my life. I highly recommend it.
